Consultants and Contactors for horticultural endeavors... 

Some people have us on consultancy over the phone wth questions about how they should care for ther own properties, but most have hands on timely care from below the grounds on up. Maintenance contracts for the season is the most budget and plant friendly way to accomplish a fine property.  The following is a list of some of the jobs we can do for you, But it is very limited, so please inquire.

healthy turf control and health

 

In the old days only the wealthy had yards with grass. Perrennial grasses for erosion from wind and rain had not been developed and so in the droughts the wind took the soil away, and in the spring and autumn rains the dirt was drained away from the roots of the trees.  All this erosion changing the aspects of properies rather drastically. Now we can help our wildlife and trees and bushes by encouraging perennial grass mixes that manage to stay alive at all  the different times of the year, even over a -20* winter in Indiana,  to maintain the soil depth and health.

Encouraging the good bugs and discouraging the bad...

 

There are many things that can be done to naturally stop the bugs from bugging your roses or the deer from eating your hostas. Planting at certain times in the year and in the month folklore insists, is beneficial and indeed seems to be. Certain plants planted together aide one another to deter the pests. Some sprays can be made out of certain flower families to ward of the aphids for example. But sometimes it comes to a choice  for the guardians of the plants. Also it may be neccessary to control ANY mosquito population from eating pets and people, and plantings can make a difference. Unfortunately. 'medication' is sometimes called for.

Drainage issues left over from bad Contracting practices or...

 

We are always finding drainage problems for land maintenance or building maintenance. Percolation practices. They can be can be caused by nature or by careless planning and contracting. The goal is to find the source of the problem and divert using the most durable materials available so that the problem will not re-occur. Using nature is usually the best as it tends to upgrade itself and maintain infrastructure,if the appropriate materials an plants ae used.  One might consider how long the Roman aquaduct system has lasted in comparison to our cement sewer systems..

Beauty and utility...beds and fields

 

The flower beds should be developed to bloom in rotation. If they are put to bed properly cleaned and mulched the Spring bulbs and tender wildfowers can emerge without too much irritation from rakes and clods of mulch being placed by heavy handed landscapers. There is a window of clean up and planting that goes on in the Spring, and then there are May/June blooms and then the summer ratchets up with swaths of perrenial flowers, such as daisies or susans.  Some people want to manage wildflower fields...and there is a definite way for that to be done so as not to result in ratty looking summertimes.

We will design your perfect garden 'room' or workshop. We'll sort your retaining walls or atmospheric/useful fences. OR we can simply supervise the contractors for quality control.  We could help you hire AND monitor or just do the whole thing. Serious stuff, but it is our job. It's ugly but someone's got to do it.Take a look at the British journals at current bookstores, for example "Country Living ..British Edition, or English Gardens' to name a couple. Inspirational.
