Our horticultural expertise and clean sharp blades keep your grass healthy...
We work the turf. . .
for erosion control and beauty.

Don't forget snow/ice management for winter!

Let me introduce you to our excellent turf and lawn department. Gary is the person we depend on for all the mechanical expertise and final tidy-ups. Under the advice of the horticultural care gardener he completes all things your lawn needs for dense growth beauty and erosion control.
Grubs must be eradicated or the moles will come. Furthermore the roots must not be eaten by cutworms! The diseases and fungus that attack your lawn should be prevented by proper care. Cutting the grass when it needs it, at the length that encourages its’ growth and protects it from burn, adjusted to the right time in the season protects your grounds. And do you have difficult places where you find it pretty much IMPOSSIBLE to grow a nice turf? Depend on Gary to choose the proper soil amendments or type of perennial grass to remedy that problem. Make a beautiful parkland of your yard. Enjoy the outdoors.
Finally putting the yard to bed for the winter
so that it is healthy and looks tidy, and has been cleared of leaves that can make bare spots if they get matted over the fall and the winter. From prevention to seeding and soil improvement Gary does it all.
Although niggly custom work is our joy and specialty, and we enjoy a lot of client contact, Gary does a lot of work on commercial property. Including new subdivision lawns and wildflower fields. He also will maintain those larger beds for flowers that must bloom all season.

why IS turf important in southern Indiana...?
We have wet and sometimes severe winters which wash away bare soil...clover and wild flowers die back in winter as mostly they are annual plants, and in the droughty summers, these same pretty plants die and cause soil to blow away. Since the '50s our perennial grasses have been developed to hold the soil and help keep it's nutrients in YOUR yard. No longer do we have to sweep pounds of dust out of our houses.
Can I have wildflower meadow and erosion protection?
wildflower meadows can easily be managed with three mowings a year, or one burn off in the countryside and two mowings. February before the animal babies are born to clear the heavy, soggy, over-wintered foliage to allow seeds to germinate..then after the first set of wild-flowers between mid June and mid July to make way for the late summer flowers. In this way they don't become 6 ft tall...usually...they stay 4ft tall or less.
If you don't do this your field will look like a rats nest. And probably will be....inviting to the snakes as well!
